Our Story and Nora's Purpose

Our daughter, Nora NovaLee was born on April 2nd, 2016. She came exactly 21 weeks too soon. She was perfectly healthy, but had complications with her two-vessel cord. My husband, Ernie and I, along with our three sons at the time (Mason-9, Maverick-4 and Denver-2) were devastated and thrown into a season of loss, pain and longing. Through out this time, God met us in many ways. One of those ways was through His people. We were loved and cared for by friends, family and strangers. We will never be able to fully express our gratefulness for them.

We desperately wish that Nora was here with us, but since she can not be, we want to share her story and spread the love that we have for her to other families who are grieving the loss of a baby. My daughter, as well as all of the other babies who left us too soon, has a purpose in this world. As her mother, my wish is to carry out her purpose for her and I intend to do that by doing what I can to love these families who can relate and understand this journey that is so full of pain, joy, loss and love. We wish we could give these families the world and we know that these care packages will not fix or heal everything, but we do hope that we can be a source of support, understanding and comfort. We hope to encourage and empower families to talk about their baby and share their story.

Some needs were brought to our attention while we were delivering our sweet little girl. She was so tiny at only 6 inches long so she couldn't fit in any of the hats or outfits. Luckily, my sister had gone into the store during my 30 hour labor and bought a tiny baby doll so we could use that hat. It was also very difficult to get her hand and foot prints because the ink didn't want to stick to her skin. One way we hope to help families is by donating smaller hats and blankets as well as handprint kits to hospitals. These will be in kits with other goodies we can give these individual families to show that they are not in it alone and to make things a little easier on them.
