Nora's Garden

Because they lived. Because they are loved. Because they matter.

Our Charity's mission is to love and support families who are grieving the loss of a baby. It is our hope that families know that people are praying for them who understand the importance and impact of their precious child's life. Losing a child places you on a long and difficult path, but with your help, we can be a small light and provide some comfort to families on their journey.

Our Hopes

Sending love to families experiencing the loss of a baby.

Nora's Garden is a charitable foundation dedicated to showing love and support to those who are deep in grief from losing a child. Whether they were able to hold their babies in their arms or only in their wombs, we wish to support them as so many did for our family. With the help of donations from people like you, we are able to not only send care packages to families in need, but also donate wraps and hats to hospitals so they are better equipped to care for families delivering precious babies way too soon. We are also a safe place for parents to share their child's story or even just their name. Contact us to see what you can do to help love these families.

How You Can Get Involved!

Here are two ways that you can help and get involved!

Annual Charity Event!

Our hearts are overflowing with love and gratitude! This years Annual Event was another success thanks to all of our supporters! Thank you to all of our  Event Sponsors who made it possible for every dollar that came in to go straight to our mission! We were also able to purchase speakers for future events so everyone can hear announcements, updates and important information during the tournament, and of course, music! Thank you to everyone who signed up to play in the tournament! It was so fun to watch the friendly battles! Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes! The raffle has always been such a huge part of our event and is so fun! We had so many great prizes! We are so grateful for these generous gifts! Thank you to everyone who came to hang out with us and support our mission by buying a drink and raffle tickets! It was such a beautiful day of people coming together to help grieving families. We are grateful to our family and friends who helped us set up, make food and keep it stocked, serve drinks, make the cornhole boards and set them up, get speakers running, sell raffle tickets, the list goes on and on!

Each annual event essentially funds our whole year and allows us to send care packages out when we are contacted by friends and families of grieving families. We are also able to partner up with Women's Health First OBGYN in Hastings and University of Michigan Health-West where packages are now readily available to hand out to mamas when needed. In addition, we are able to make and provide appropriately sized hats and blankets to mamas of babies born too soon at their partnering hospital, Spectrum Health Pennock and also to Butterworth Spectrum Health Labor and delivery and University of Michigan Health-West. To say that this event is important to us would be a HUGE understatement! Because of your support we have been able to make over 100 care packages. That means together we have been able to help over 100 families honor and represent their child and hopefully helped them feel less alone. It is our hope to support many  more  families.

Donations

"We are blessed so that we can be a blessing to others."

We are able to help families because of donations from people like you! With these donations, we are able to create care packages for families in need. They will all be slightly unique to each family, but to give you an idea of what they look like, here is a list of items that families will find in their care package:

  • A willow tree figurine

  • Gift card for an easy dinner

  • A remembrance necklace

  • A personalized tie clip (when we know the baby's name)

  •  If the family has other children, there will be a copy of "Heaven is For Real, For Kids!"

  • A book for Mama

  • A packet of "Forget Me Not" seeds

  • A list of songs that have helped other grieving families

  • A journal to provide the opportunity for them to write down their story

  • Contact information if they would like to share their story with Nora's Garden

Another way we can serve families is by donating kits to hospitals so they are better equipped to serve families who are delivering their babies far too soon. When we delivered our Nora NovaLee at just 19 weeks, she was too small for any of the hats that they graciously offered. It was also very difficult to get her hand and foot prints because the ink didn't want to stick to her skin. We want to fix this. Among the items we provide to the hospitals, there will be:

  • No touch handprint kit

  • Appropriately sized hat

  • Appropriately sized blanket

In the care packages to the mamas there will be:

  • Willow Tree figurine

  • Gift card to provide an easy dinner

  • A list of songs that have helped other families

  • A packet of "Forget Me Not" seeds

  • A journal to provide the opportunity for them to write down their story

  • Contact information if they would like to share their story with Nora's Garden
